For this project, we were asked to create a series of photographs that use lots of negative space as part of a composition. Make the subject/object (a person/flower) a small part of the composition, surrounded by lots of negative space. Try to create interesting shapes using negative space.

What Techniques Have I Used?
In my photographs, I tried to add a lot of contrast within each picture. This is to accentuate the negative space and allow for easier clarification within the picture. For example, some of the pictures below show a lot of black-and-white contrast, this defines the line between the horizon and or subject.
I also used colour contrast such as using cold and warmer colours instead of using black and white shades.
In addition, I also let the environment do the work for me such as the last 2 pictures, where I just let the ball contrast the concrete.
Using Lightroom I was able to change the contrast in the pictures, I changed the exposure to be able to create a more sharp line between the subject and the environment.
What Went Well?
I managed to take pictures that had a lot of contrast, without contrast negative space is not as accentuated. This in turn makes the pictures stand out more and you can define the subject from the surroundings better.
What Improvments Could I Make?
I think on reflection, although the pictures have contrast, editing the pictures so that things such as clouds do not show as much will create an effect of extreme negative space, which will add a whole new level of contrast within the pictures.
